Book Addiction!

So, I have decided that I am completely and totally addicted to books. I recognize that I could have worse addictions. The problem is, I fill my shelves faster than I create them, and then I find that I don't actually get to read them before I get excited by a whole slew of new titles! Because I have so many books, I separate them by putting ALL of my theatre, music and teaching books in my office (and that includes most of my music). If I didn't have an office, I wouldn't actually fit into my current two bedroom apartment (which really is quite spacious). And, in my office, I probably have 10 new books from this semester alone that I haven't been able to touch (Taking Time to Act: A Guide to Cross-Curriculuar Drama, Educational Drama ad Language Arts, The Creative Classroom, The Diagnosis and Correction of Vocal Faults, Acting on Impulse, The Actor's Art and Craft, and Vocal Arts Workbook and DVD - just to name a few). And all of these books are utterly and completely interesting to me. If I took time to go through my bookshelf, I would find all the books (still in my office and thus in my field) that I ordered last spring and over the summer that I have still not had time to read (the good news, is that I would also find some that I have read - and I have read about five new books in my field this semester - or read enough to take info from them).

At home, in my "leisure" reading stack by my bed. I still have two books from the "Other Bolyn Girl" series that I have been dying to read. I am almost done with Trinity (finally - don't get me wrong it is a great book), and I recently purchased four books at Barnes and Nobles when my dad was in town (the titles of which I can't remember since I happen to be in my office right now. Though one of them was Thornbirds. Off the top of my head, I have around 10 classics (Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice, etc) that I bought at the Green Valley Book Fair in Virginia (the GREATEST book fair in the entire world!!!) that I haven't gotten to. And I have a slew of novels (Handmaiden's Tale, something about tea, a Jodi Picoulti novel (whom I've never read, but thought I would try, a Hemmingway, a couple of thrillers my dad said I would love) in my bookshelf - again, waiting to be read.

And yet, with all this, there is nothing that will brighten my day quite like a visit to a bookstore or a brand new book arriving in my mailbox fresh, crisp and ready to add to my collection!

I bet the book is "Three Cups of Tea"... if so, it starts out slow (and difficult) but picks up part way through and then really inspires you!

Stephanie I know exactly how you feel! I have at least 50 books just waiting to be read right now, and I went to Borders last night and bought three more! Unfortunately I'm running out of room for them all! One of the new books I bought was "The Boleyn Inheritance," the second book in that series. I'm so excited to start reading! I also bought another one by her that starts a different series. I'm trying to finish up the Twilight series (on the last book so almost there) so I can move on and try to tackle my shelves! Also, Jodi Picoult...absolutely love her! I hope you enjoy her when you get around to reading her! What book of hers do you have?
