So, I am in the middle of tech week. This week is often referred to as "hell week" which I hate because it is sort of when the "magic" comes together and should be a thrilling experience. But alas, everyone is exhausted and drama happens. So, we have had our share this week. This is the second night in a row I have gotten home from rehearsal past 1am!! I've always prided myself in my manageable tech weeks and early evenings (of course, that comes from having directed only one other main stage with virtually no tech and no orchestra - lol!). SO, I spent all day putting out a MAJOR fire within the cast and I believe morale has been restored. I was up until 3am crying yesterday (turns out Uncle Alex was ALSO up at 3am so we decided to have an uncle/niece heart-to-heart and it was lovely (3am, on the phone, and neither of us was drunk!! Lol!).
And that girl who cheated last semester - she appealed my decision to the academic standards board twice and lost both times. After losing, she actually had the nerve to e-mail me one more time saying the appeal committee had told her only I could reverse the decision at this point and she begged me to change her grade again claiming she had done nothing wrong. Wow . . . So, I sent her a long e-mail explaining my rationale for keeping her "D" and CCd every dean and important person on campus. I finished the e-mail by explaining to her that as someone studying to be an elementary school teacher she needs to take responsibility for her actions, come to peace with the consequences, and share the results with her future students so she may morally guide future minds (or some such line).
Wow - I'm really tired right now. I don't think this entry makes sense. I am going to bed!

I was a little concerned when I didn't get home until 11 last night... you are putting me to shame. My cast is doing well (getting tired) but we still have a long way to go on lights and sound... but it will get done. It has to.
Opening night!! Break a leg! Can't wait to see the video of your show!
You made perfect sense!
I so wish I could see your production. I am sure it is very magical and fun. I am also very proud of you in your interactions with that student. Kudos to you for being strong and honest with her. She needs it!!
