Well, it's been a little while. Life has been rather uneventful. The show The Women of Lockerbie opened last night. I was the dialect coach (the dialect this time, was clearly Scottish). The kids actually did quite well. There were a couple of sounds they never got no matter how hard I tried (that darn "l") and a couple of them went Irish with their tone when they got nervous on opening night. But, overall, they did really well, were consistent and stayed mostly out of Irish land! Good job students!
So about the lime-cello. It currently is the winner. I like it better than lemoncello, I think. And so do most of my friends. It is still a close battle, but lime-cello is coming out on top by a small margin.
I went into this store today called Imagine. It was three stories high and potentially the most interesting store I ahve ever been in. Think of all the quirky little stores that sell random, but darling, artistic, and/or completely off the wall things. That was all of these stores rolled into one. It was thoroughly entertaining.
I started my third novel of the semester and I am right now in the middle of writing my syllabis for next semester. My goal is to only bring Little Shop of Horrors home with me this Christmas break as textbooks are so heavy and take up so much room. And, even though I picture myself at home, working on school work, happy as a little clam - it never usually pans out that way. So, I am trying to get as much of my beginning of the year prep work done (as can be done without knowing how many or how experienced the students in your class will be) now.
I am feeling marginally better about directing Little Shop of Horrors next semester. I think once I meet with my designer next week or the week after, I will feel a lot better.
Chorus hell week is coming up. By the way, I love this semester's chorus. Where as directing chorus used to be a hellish chore for me, I really enjoy it now. The students are delightful, the students who didn't like the "new teacher" have finally all quit, and we are rocking and rolling (in as much as you can be with Christmas music). The week after Thanksgiving we will have a week with four rehearsals, and five performances. Ugh . . . and yay!
I guess that's all for now!
