A Wonderful Concert

Today, Matt Dean (my cousin for those of you who do not know) performed with his chorus (Phillip Exeter Academy) in Providence. They are currently on a New England tour and then tomorrow they will perform in NYC. I got to go watch them perform and of course, as I expected they were amazing. In fact, it is sort of frustrating to go listen to a high school chorus and know that they are so much better than I could every even hope to get my chorus to sound in ONE song! At the same time, it is so fabulous to to know that there is hope beyond my chorus. And despite the fact that I will never get them to sing that well (after all they are mostly biology, engineer, and other random people who just like to sing and really don't care that much), that there are HIGH SCHOOL kids out there who are the future musicians and performers of the world. So, there you go. I was able to record some of the music and would really like to post my favorite song. But, I have to get it off my recorder (stupid recorder came with a USB hookup instead of a firewire so it takes FOREVER), and figure out if I even can post it. So, stay tuned.

After the concert, I was invited to eat dinner with them and then we went to this game place in the mall (a really super fancy and nice one that is attached to a restaurant - called Dave and Busters. I had never heard of it, but I think it is a chain, so maybe some of you have). Matt and I played a game of pool against another two kids and we won!!! I was proud of myself. And then he and I went and shot dinosaurs in a Jurrasic Park video game car, played some Skee Ball and I watched him almost beat a friend of his at some basketball game. They stayed on, but at that point it was time for me to go home. But, here are some pictures!

I ended up sitting in the very front row of the cathedral. What I didn't realize is that the choir was going to be so close. So, I was practically in the concert. Luckily, I was on Matt's side :-)

Matt's got big lips (apparently his friends call them Angelina Jolie lips!). Anyway, I see the resemblence there. We both got some Dean genes going on!

He and I held our own if I do say so myself.

Serious business!

I'll try to get my favorite recordings up tomorrow if I can. Seriously - the recordings (if they came out) will blow you through the water!

I went to Dave and Busters last Friday, And left my digital camera by the shuffle board table and no one turned it in, so it's gone forever. I'm very sad.
