2am and she calls me

CUZ I'M STILL AWAKE and I'm never going to adjust to a healthy sleeping schedule again . . .

Sigh . . . I am locked into a horrible sleep habits right now that I just can't shake! Hardly slept last night so I had to take two naps today in order to make it through a class I had to intelligently pay attention in and a 3 HOUR play I had to stay awake through tonight. And now, I am wired!!! And tomorrow morning I will either sleep super late and have trouble falling asleep tomorrow. Or not, and have to take a nap in order to stay awake through tomorrow night's play.

By the way, I am at a conference right now. It is fun. I thought I would wish that I was teaching classes, but I am having fun. I presented a workshop bright and early this morning (hence the multiple naps today) and it was AWESOME! I had around 12-15 really interested college students show up with energy and excitement. We had a really great time. These conferences are a little overwhelming. Hundreds of people all doing theatre, shows and rehearsals around the clock. It is like taking 40 shots of theatre all at once. Sometimes I'm in the mood, sometimes I'm not. I think tomorrow I will ditch the conference and go shopping . . .

So, to back track. I am 30 now. Finally. I am happy and excited to be 30. I have noticed some little things happening since I turned 30. I sleep a TON and can't get into a sleep schedule. I drop things constantly. The good news is I am pretty sure that the second is a result of the first and the first is because after nine weeks I am still not back into a routine. So, I am hoping that on Monday when I can start getting back into a routine, both of these issues will be fixed. Otherwise, it all comes with age :-)

I taught one class this week (I refused to come to this conference until I had met my acting education majors - so I came up a day late). I love the class. I hope I didn't scare too many of them away. College students are geniuses at excuses. There is no one who can come up with an excuse faster or better than a college student. Because of that every semester my syllabi get a couple of sentences longer to fill in the blank for that particular excuse and to let my students know I'm on to them. So, when I hand out my novel long syllabus on the first day and start to read this long list of rules, they all get a wee bit nervous. But, then I have them stand up and play a fun ice breaker, and it usually sells them . . . at least through the add/drop period . . . hahahahahaha - then they are mine or they have to take a W (withdrawl) :-)
